Our Mission
At Amelium, our commitment is to serving the growing community of mushroom farmers and enthusiasts in our region and further afield by focusing our efforts on producing and offering the highest quality starting materials needed for success. Amelium's background being in gourmet mushroom production, we understand the complexity that is inherent in this type of production and it is our mission to offer, small and large farms, and hobbyists alike, products they can trust and rely on to help their facilities run smoothly and their businesses thrive, or simply to allow an enthusiast to enjoy growing delicious mushrooms at home!
Our Story
Amelium Farms, founded in 2015, is a family owned and operated company that produces high quality mycology products for farms across Eastern Canada and beyond. Formerly known as Myco-Rise, its beginnings were humble, motivated by founder Marc Brettschneider and his interest in the field of mycology.
Bolstered by winning the McGill Dobson Cup award for most promising agricultural start-up in 2017, the company grew through three expanded facilities to meet growing demand and now occupies two (3000 and 1800 sq ft) facilities in St. Lazare and Riviere-Beaudette, Qc respectively.
Amelium has been a leader and active
participant in the local mushroom industry for almost 10 years, at one time
supplying gourmet fresh mushrooms to local consumers and IGA's all over Quebec. Today, having made leaps and bounds in the research and development of large-scale spawn and block
production techniques, Amelium functions uniquely as a supplier of spawn, blocks and
mushroom growing equipment, maintaining innovation and in-depth knowledge of its products as the backbone of the company.
Meet the Team
Founder and operator Marc Brettschneider
works alongside his good friend and partner Renaud Grandmaison, his father
Howard Brettschneider, his wife Rebecca Gagne, and a loyal crew of employees to
keep the business running at its best.

Marc Brettschneider
Marc’s background in indoor vertical farming design and controlled environments laid the foundation for his deep dive into the world of mycology. Guided by professors and mentors in the field, and refined through years of hands-on practice, he has developed a strong, science-driven understanding of fungi cultivation. This expertise has fueled Amelium’s ongoing advancements in production methods, allowing the farm to continually refine and perfect its process.
What began as a passion project remains one at heart — Marc continues to run his farm and lab with the same dedication and curiosity that sparked it all. Behind the scenes, family remains central to Amelium’s story - with Marc and Rebecca's two young sons often joining their father in the shop and the youngest brightening up the office with her toddler energy!
Renaud Grandmaison
Renaud has been a partner with Marc in this mycelial venture since 2021 and now personally runs and manages the block production facility in St. Lazare with his dedicated crew. His attention to detail, aptitude in design and construction and dedication to Amelium's mission continues to drive the company forward on a daily basis.


Howard Brettschneider
Marc's father, Howard has been working
alongside his son since 2018, serving as production manager for many years. He has since become the head of the R&D department and has always been a tremendous support to the company.
Rebecca Gagne
Founder Marc's wife, Rebecca acts as Amelium's administrator, web designer and manager of online sales.
